London. I shall return!

It’s been a packed three days in London. We haven’t stopped moving since we got off the plane. We’ve been spoiled in the sense that we’ve had beautiful sunny weather and a host that has been living here for 4 years and through the trials and tribulations of starting a successful business knows the ins and outs of the city and likes to show his guests a good time. It’s an energetic city. A mix of New York City style and energy but with the customs and nuances of the English. Cobblestone meets Times Square. Monty Python meets Wall Street. There’s a lot of money in London and for a couple of shoestring entrepreneurs backpacking around, it was fun to hit up the posh nightclubs, restaurants, and pubs and mingle with “high-society” London. Fun, but not cheap!

Keep in mind we spent most of our time in West London which tends be a bit more posh than East London and Camden which seemed to be a lot more hip, and artsy and I would have loved to explore with more time.

Our first night we went down to Chelsea and watched the European League Championship between AC Milan and Liverpool at a swanky little pub. The game was actually less exciting than was expected but the pub scene was a good time. Everyday at around 5pm the pubs all over London fill up with people getting off work and if you cruise around the city you’ll stumble upon pub after pub with people and pints overflowing into the street. Very social culture and it wasn’t long before we had met half the people in the bar and placed a couple of wagers on the game, which I won (thank god since the Pints aren’t cheap).

The next night was our good friends Birthday party and we rented out a great Thai Restaurant in Soho. We were a group of almost twenty. Old friends I hadn’t seen in years had flown to London to meet up and celebrate. An international crowd, rowdy and excited to see each other. The food was good too, check out Ross's blog
For info on the Thai restaurant that we went to.

That night we rocked out at a bunch of different nightclubs that weren't anything to write home about, but good times nonetheless.

The next day was spent promoting the website to different hostels around London and seeing the sights. That night we chilled out in Camden and experienced a different side of London, which was much more artsy and working class which was refreshing after what we had experienced in the previous days in West London.

It was quick trip through London with a degree of jetlag thrown in. But from what I did experience I could definitely spend some time there. Maybe even a year, but only if I was being paid in pounds. Not a cheap experience by any means.

London, we'll be meeting again.
