Istanbul - Live!
|
Merhaba people!! I just spent 5 days in Istanbul - the city that never sleeps... you can tell that by the traffic... no matter at what time of the day, the traffic in Istanbul is C-R-A-Z-Y!!! I am wondering how maniacs like them even get a license to driver out there ;-) It's definitely an experience like no other to get around with a car there. Anyways, i had a fantastic time there... we stayed at a hotel in Taksim (Beyoğlu), right across the live venue Balans (www.balansmusichall.com). This area is definitely one of the busiest areas when it comes to nightlife, entertainment and shopping (İstiklâl). There is always something going on (even at 5 am)... Here are a few things you should do in Istanbul when you are there: A ride on a boat. A Ferry ride up the Bosphorus is a lot of fun. You can pick it up near the Spice Bazaar. It's totally amazing to see the city from the water... Check out the fish markets throughout the city, you will be amazed by how they display the fish.. just don't forget that those places are really smelly! ...and definitely eat some real turkish Döner Kebab and drink some Rakı ;-) ..In Turkey, raki is the unofficial 'national drink' and it is traditionally drunk mixed with water; the dilution causes this alcoholic drink to turn a milky-white colour, and possibly because of its colour, this mixture is popularly called aslan sütü or "arslan sütü", both literally meaning "lion's milk" (aslan and arslan also mean strong, brave man, hence 'milk' for the brave men) Any questions? Send me a message ;-) |

I just came back from Turkey and I also loved the Doner Kebab. Did you try the Kofta? The tiny meatballs, they were amazing. Also, is your name Elisa? That would be crazy because mine is too!
