Chiang Rai, Thailand and the Hill Tribes

guess what? we are in Thailand!

Currently in Chiang Rai, Thailand trying to get up to Golden Triangle in this Monsoon!  Has been raining all night and all morning.  When there's a will there's a way yeah?

Visited the HIll Tribe Museum and Education Center yesterday.   A piece of advice for those visiting Thailand.  It may be very tempting to see the long neck Karen women in Thailand as part of your adventure but know this--  many of these women and girls are NOT there by choice (politically speaking).  They are prisoners of business people turning them into a theme park and making $ off of tourists.  Originally known as PaDaung tribe in Burma, they are not native to Thailand.  They are prisoners!   I also know this not just because I visited the museum but also because I am Burmese American.

Visit HIll Tribe Museum and Education Center to educate yourself about the do's and dont's!
620/1Thanalai Road, Chiang Rai, Thailand 57000 besides Cabbages and Condoms Restaurant.
