2008 Already?
|
Here in Stockholm, it was already dark by 3:30pm. Sure, this is normal winter for Northerners. I have to get used to it. Somewhere over the Atlantic enroute to Schiphol, the flight attendant came on the speaker. "Happy New Year!. Now we celebrate with champagne!" in a heavy Dutch accent. 2008? Already here? Unbelievable. I remember watching fireworks over Luleå same time last year like it was yesterday: grateful for blessings in 2006, and trying to figure out what I wanted to accomplish in 2007. I can honestly ask myself - Where did 2007 go?. It seems like a blur of busyness and equally time-consuming personal projects. As I decompress these few early days of January, significant 2007 events will become isolated and remembered. Time seems to be flying much faster than I'd ever imagined before. My theory? I believe the world is spinning much faster on its axis. Proof of this?? Tomorrow is already the 3rd! Where did the 2nd go??!! Anyways, I will be here for the next month - working, writing, travelling - with maybe a quick jaunt to Finland via boat. Gott Nytt År!! |

2007 wasn't a great year for me - too much stress, too many funerals and not enough travel.
I don't really believe in resolutions, but I'm making a commitment to myself to have more fun this year, to try to enjoy what life sends my way - and if I can't enjoy to roll a little smoother with the punches.
And here's to later sunsets!

I hear ya--one year ends and the only thing I feel I have to show for it is more back pain.
Have fun, and watch out for axe-wielding vikings.
