Restaurante Torre de la Plata: Don't miss this gem in Sevilla

This place is a "must eat" for a couple reasons. First of all, it sits in one of the most historic buildings in all of Sevilla. The place has character for days...it used to be one of the major treasuries in Andalucia and the building itself is 300 years old. The second reason is that the food is unbelievable. You'll be hard pressed to find better authentic Spanish dining in Sevilla or anywhere else. The third and most important reason is that it is owned and operated by my good friends. Fran, Carmello, and Juanma are some guys I met 5 years ago when I was studying abroad in Madrid. I can't recommend meeting these guys enough. They were the best hosts I have ever had. After not seeing them for 5 years, they welcomed us into their city like we were family. They know everyone in the city and are the most plugged in and knowledgeable resource you could possibly have in Sevilla.

I'm trying to get them on Matador but I think the best way to find these guys is by going to the restaurant. Check them out and say you know Ross and Ben from Matador...they'll take care of you.

Fran and Carmello don't speak a word of English and to make matters worse, after Fran has a few drinks he starts talking like he has marbles in his mouth which makes him even harder to understand, but Juanma speaks English well and you should be speaking Spanish anyway--you're in Spain! A quick recap of the homies:

Francisco Sr. -- The Gangster -- The owner and Fran and Carmello's pops
Fran -- The lady charmer and manager
Juanma -- The waiter and comedian
Carmello -- The chef and Fran's brother

The address is: Santander 1, 41001 Sevilla, Spain - 954 228 761

Don't miss it!
