The Odds

I finally got out of Tortosa after being trapped for about two days more than necessary. I arrived on the weekend, and therefore had to wait to get the bike reparations I needed, plus all that untrained biking led to a bit of a head cold.
Two good days/nights of rest were enough to get me healthy again and back on the road for perhaps the most day (although I'm not sure if anything quite compares to the grueling first day). I started off again with a 125k ride, fighting a nasty headwind most of the way to a big city on the coast called Castellon.
There a wonderful family welcomed me into their home, fed me a fantastic meal of calamari and listened to my adventures. The next day I was off again, but on a much shorter journey of about 55k to a small town called Canet. Here I had plenty of time to spend on the beach before meeting my couch host.

The next day I started early and arrived in the beauteous city of Valencia before noon. Along the beachside was a lovely pathway to scope out the sunbathers and happenings, which I rode all the way into the city. I found this pretty little huuge garden that stretches along a river cutting directly through the city, and baked in the sun for a few hours.
I tried desperately to contact with some Couch Surfers, with no reply and had to find a youth hostel for the night. Tonight I managed to find a couch in Valencia, but hope to leave the city tomorrow.

My plans for Morocco may change a bit, because I'm really tight on time. Online I found a cheap flight from Valencia to Dublin, on the 22nd. So I'm thinking that I might just bike around this area until then and then head up north.
In Ireland hopefully I can do some more biking (maybe find some other bikers as well), and perhaps find a job (since money matters, unfortunately)...

Well... I've covered about 425 kilometers over six actual days of biking. Not too bad for my first long-distance bike trip. I don't know if I'd recommend this route because the autovia's (highways) aren't particularly catered to cyclists, but I had a great time and hope to do some more soon. Ciao for now!!
