I terrorize hedgehogs with my love
|
I haven’t been going to the forest, so the forest came to me. It toddled over my laptop, ran under my bed, and waited patiently as I frantically tried to take photos of it in manual, in bad lighting, with poor composition, cursing under my breath all the while. Aga brought Hedgehog in for a minute after she saved it from Czester the dog. She was so enamored with it that she didn't notice herself in the picture that I took of them. My first Polish experience, four years ago, included a hedgehog and a crazed Polish girl, too. She saw it in the night, chased it, caught it with her bare arms, and came up from the ditch, grinning and murmuring, “Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow...” The forest doesn’t like to be ignored. Two weeks ago it threw a bat with a broken wing through our window. Bats masticate surprisingly noisily. |
