On my recent trip to Amsterdam, I fell prey to a hot, salty and greasy dish we like to call french fries. Or should I say Dutch or Belgian fries? I am a fan of fries the world over, but for some reason this guys really struck me as magnificent. Fresh and hot I attacked them after a long night on the town. Walking back to my hotel I could only daydream about trying to find fries such as these back in NYC. Over the next few days I decided to sample them from different spots all over Amsterdam. In general they were pretty good and I felt satisfied that I had done my part to make sure the lonely potato got it's due.

Coming back to NYC, I made it my mission to try and replicate my experience. Of course, it wasn't to be. As much as New York claims to be the capital of everything, there are just some things that can't be duplicated. So my quest for fries has come to a stop...for now.
