Winter sports are not only about Alpine skiing and I know that there are lots of nordic ski fans. I tried only once, and had a lot of fun by trying not to lose balance having only my foot tip hooked up to that tiny ski. Besides, you can enjoy a lot more the nature and scenery surrounding you.

In Aosta Valley,  Cogne offers a 80 km circuit for every cross-country skier level and gorgeous views on the Gran Paradiso massif.  Besides, if you’re looking for a total immersion in the nature, trying to spot foxes, chamois and ibex best thing is having a long walk with snow rackets with a local guide. And if you want to treat yourself of something special, what about sled dog? This is something I never did and should definitely try…

Cogne is perfect for romantic ambience and great food. Accommodations range from luxury hotels with spa to simpler but cosy chalets.
