did you blink and miss it?

Well, I am wearing the grime of four countries right now, accumulated from the last forty hours! So, recap: I did King Lear at the Bard's own house- amazing! Then I had company (thanks Rowena!) in Camden, UK on Saturday. For those of you who were conserned that Goth would die with Jeremy Griffith: be not afraid- there is an entire city center in Camden dedicated to keeping it alive! Then I packed and jumped on a plane to Paris. I spent seven lovely hours reaffirming that j'aime Paris. That said, I made a quantum mistake. In my excitement to be in the city I got off the RER at Notre Dame. It was such a lovely, sunny, sleepy Sunday on the Siene that I shunned the advice I had sought out about it, in fact, being too far to walk to Gare du Lyon (to stash my bag, since I am now a turtle, carrying my home around with me). Let it just be stated that said bag in fact weighs 44 pounds, plus the 6 of my purse, which together are almost half of my body weight. But I got a lovely tan and realized that I really can speak passable french. So that evening I boarded a sleeper car à Roma. Before I fell asleep I watched the beautiful French countryside roll by. Dijon c'est très jolie. I then awoke to watch the Tuscan countryside roll by. Both areas are as picture perfect as one can imagine! I arrived in Rome, checked into my hostel (which I had chosen for its proximity to the train station-thankfully!) and hit the ground running! I went to Vatican City. Just incase anyone wonders you must in fact pay 14€ (about 24$) in order to see the Sistine Chapel. I stood there debating, as my guidebook said 11€, which I already thought was steep, and then the woman in front of me said "one student please". I knew I brought that Hunter ID for something! 9€ and I went through the whole museum. Let it also be noted that I cannot believe there is any marble left for the rest of the world, considering the MASSIVE amounts in the Vativan City and St. Peters Basillica... I did everything here, except the Colleseum, which I will do tomorrow, and then I leave for Perugia and stay with Andrew! I promise to try and upload pictures tomorrow!I have some good ones, especially as Rome is generally picture perfect. Everytime I turned around I saw something that I loved in all the crazy crooked little cobblestoney streets! |

Ah, that sounds great! I love Rome, it's such a perfect touring city.
