Am I not traveling?
|
Hey Matador Community, I stumbled upon this site via Twitter (surprise!) and I'm excited to be involved in this community of like-minded writers, photographers and all around travelers. It seems many of us have been to some interesting places, done some interesting things and aspire to "live the dream" - make a living out of our passions. That being said, I was surprised by the drop down options for travel status when creating an account. Just moving to the Czech Republic, I looked for "living abroad" or "studying abroad" or even "happily expating." I figured even if I wasn't on the road or striking off the beaten path, I was still traveling in the general sense of the term. Does living overseas not count for traveling? I guess I thought that, whether a vacation, adventure trip or living abroad, time spent in another country was traveling. Regardless, I hope to contribute to this vibrant community and look forward to hearing your stories. |

We should add that as an option! :) In fact, most of the Matador editorial team consists of people who are long-term expats. Really glad you found us via Twitter-- welcome! (And what's your Twitter handle?).
Peace,
Julie (Matador's managing editor)
Hi Julie,
Yea, it seems a lot of us are expats, and thus a bit more fitting option can't hurt. It was just a thought.
My Twitter handle is Ralstonews (I have yet to Tweet, though. Will start shortly.)
Thanks for the welcome.
Yes, tis true! Many of us are also nomads in every sense of the word. We'll have to revisit those options for Travel Status. Welcome to Matador! I'm sure you will love it here. Any questions, feel free to ask...
Carlo
Ohhh, you're traveling. Tons of people on here are living abroad. You're in the majority. Welcome!
Ah, thank you!
