Things Are Coming Along in Mompos
|
Yesterday we made the business cards for La Casa Amarilla and today we are putting the finishing touches to the flyers and I am relieved that this side of things, the publicity, is fairly inexpensive. Every day there are further costs, but ones that need addressing, there is no point in cutting corners, things just have to be done.Today I found myself paying for the tubing to bring the fans closer so that we can actually feel the air, wiring for said fans, an external light, more wood for the roof and paying the carpenter for the bathroom doors. I need to say though that everything is going according to plan and suprisingly well when you factor in the bizarre work habits of coastal colombians, their love of drink and their sense of humour. The roof is supposed to be finished this week since we have had a minor setback and have had to tear some more rotten parts out, the three new bathrooms should be tiled and completed and the electrician should have finished installing the fans and revising everything. From here, where next? I suppose that I need to think about putting turf down on the bald and dusty garden, planting a mango tree and all the while buying the matresses for the beds. I have the beds! Vicente the carpenter delivered them the other day and I can tell you that the craftsmanship is second to none. Anyway, I have set up a website (basic but a website all the same) to start getting wordout in the travel community that La Casa Amarilla Mompos should be open on Feb 20. And on that note I managed to worm an article about it all into the UK's Daily Telegraph last week. In short, everything is going spectacularly well! I hope to start receiving some Matador travellers soon. Please spread the word. |

Wow--that's pretty impressive timing even by American contractor standards!
Awesome, congrats Richard - I hope to patronize your fine establishment in the not too distant future!
This is fantastic news-- congratulations! After having seen the photos you posted a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't have thought completion by February was possible, much less up and running operations! :)
I echo Julie. Quite a difference from the last pics you posted. Well done.
