I just got back today from a weekend trip to Melgar that happened spontaneously. My business partner Thomas asked me at 4pm on Friday if Andrea and I wanted to take a bus with him to stay at his suegra's house just outside of Melgar. Melgar is south of Bogotá about 2-3 hours depending on who is driving and traffic. It is hot! hot! hot! Finding a pool is a must. Luckily where we stayed had a nice pool. We spent most of the time in the pool. On Saturday night we walked around and had some food in the main plaza. The smell of fried foods draws you in. I had a "pincho de pollo" it is like a chicken skewer. After eating we went to try and find a place where we could play Tejo. Some say that Tejo is the national sport in Colombia, but I am not sure. If not, it should be. The best way to describe this game is horseshoes with explosives. I will write another blog post about this game in the future, but if you like playing horseshoes on the beach then you will surely become addicted to Tejo.
