Shanghai On My Own

So I am slowly getting acquainted with this montrous city...or at least the few areas that I have explored. I still managed to get lost today while trying to find a bookstore.  I found the store just fine, but then got on the wrong bus and had to take three metros just to get home.  Oops!

So Sunday I explored so more of the People's Square area.  I made it to the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition where they break down where Shanghai came from, where it is presently, and where it will be in ten years.  The displays were unbelievable to see.  It was quite interesting learning about how Shanghai is becoming ecologically friendly (even to the point that they have banned giving out bags at stores - instead you have to purchase them!).  There were also 3-D displays of the City, the Airport, the Island, the Railways, etc.  It was quite unbelievable to see all of Shanghai before you.

I also made it to the Shanghai Art Museum, which is in a beautiful, historic building.  There was a german photography exhibit on people throughout the years.  So I am getting a taste of the rest of the world from the Chinese perspective!
