Broome by scooter, 4WD and canoe!

Today we leave Broome for Darwin. We're getting a ride with a crazy German backpacker named Olly and will be spending the next four nights sleeping in the back of his car. I can't wait!

Before we leave, we're going on a kayak tour to see sea turtles and sting rays. I've been really looking forward to this so hope we will see loads of sea creatures. Its raining today for the first time so guess we're in for a choppy ride.

What else have we been up to? So far nothing has beat our first day here. We hired scooters and hooned around the beach looking for dinosaur footprints. The tide was too high to see them but turns out we were lucky, at least we didn't see the crocodile the local rangers have failed to catch!

Also saw the movie "Australia". Talk about an experience and a half! For one, the film is about five stories rolled in to one so was an incredibly long three hours. At least the audience made it entertaining. EVERYONE talked, kids laughed at inappropriate moments, the woman next to me yelled "Hubba hubba" every time Hugh Jackman took his shirt off and another local woman calmly walked up and down the isles for twenty minutes calling for her hiding children! Noone seemed in the least surprised by any of this so I guess that's how they do movie-going in Broome!

We were lucky enough to have another local experience yesterday when we met Graham who works on a pearl farm 200 kilometes north of Broome. He had to deliver all food supplies to his pearl farm so happily crammed in the front of the car thinking it'd be an easy adventure.  Adventure it was, easy not in particular. 3 hours of bumping up a dirt track later, we arrived hot, sweaty, cranky and in dire need of a swim. Thankfully the pearl farm turned out to be on one of the most stunning beaches I've ever seen so we were only too happy to ignroe the "stingers" warning and plunge straight in.

Got to run, kayak tour awaits. Will post pics and more stories later!
