Shit Soul Tango Late Night Buenos Aires

By Tim Patterson  |  Location: Argentina  |  11/28/07

Coming at you from Las Canitas, Buenos Aires, 2 am, just back from the most intense, most soulful, most rapturous and tormented live music I've ever seen - Mucha Mierda, violins, a massive wooden bass, sweating men with dreadlocks twisting torturous acordions and a singer in a skull shirt begging and crying over the straining tango strains; a packed house, hundreds of people connecting with one pulse in a soaring cathedral of bare concrete and sheet metal, we had a table front row center, two bottles of Malbec, the stage draped with toilet paper -Mucha Mierda! Mucha Gracias! - one last burst of joy and anguish, then we filed outside and rode home in a taxi through the cool spring night of Palermo, the driver was listening to an old lamentable folk song on the CD player and we asked him to turn up the volume, rolled down the windows and let our souls just ride.

If you're in BA on a Wednesday or Saturday night, go see Mucha Mierda play live at Club Atletico Fernandez Fierro on Sanchez de Bustamante, # 764.

Trust me.
