What We Do:

Uongozi works with the poor and vulnerable members of the Kibwezi community particularly women, disabled persons, people living with HIV/AIDS, orphans and vulnerable children(OVC) and the Youth. We work with these groups towards alleviating poverty and the social injustices that perpetuate it.
Our projects are deisgned and implemented in close partnership with the target beneficiaries.Uongozi provides capacity building interventions in the areas of projects planning and management, resources mobilisation and stewardship, economic empowerment for target groups and collaborative advocacy and lobbying. Currently Uongozi is implementing the Kibwezi Community Rehabilitation project(KCRC) which targets disabled persons, Kibwezi Integrated Care and Support(ICS) targetting orphans and people living with HIV/AIDS and the Kibwezi Information communication technology Center(ICT) targetting young people.

How You Can Help:

To help us realise our mission, you can donate funds, computers, books and services(knowledge and skills) through volunteering.You can make a difference in the lives of the vulnerable groups that we are working with by simply donating any of the above.
Individuals interested in supporting our efforts can make donations or volunteer by contacting the Executive Director.Volunteers may signed up directly at our website by filling our an application forms.Funds can be wired directly into our bank account or by western union addressed strictly to the executive director.All individuals interested in donating funds,computers or/and volunteering should feel free to forward their queries to the executive director at .
At the moment, Uongozi is in a desperate need for volunteers to help in fundraising, training community resource persons/volunteers on HIV/AIDS & environment,training youth volunteers in ICT as well as undertaking HIV/AIDS education campaigns in churches and schools.We urgently need computers to launch teh Kibwezi ICT Center which is currently equiped with only one desktop and a laptop.Volunteers may also sign up to help us fully establish this project to support the youth in the Kibwezi community access ICT services.

Featured Project:

The Kibwezi Information Communication Technology(ICT)is a unique project because it is linked to all other Uongozi projects.The goal is to empower our beneficiaries with knowledge and skills in ICT.The target beneficiaries are orphans and vulnerable children, disabled persons and youth.The objectives of the project are twofold: to make ICT services accessible, affordable and available to the Kibwezi community and to help the target beneficiaries acquire skills and knowledge in ICTs. The core activites include providing ICT training, using ICTs to create awareness on HIV/AIDS and Disability, to provide internet services in local commuity and to generate income to support other Uongozi projects.
The uniqueness of this project is that it is linked other projects and volunteers can serve in other projects through this project.Once it is fully established ICT Center will form the hub of Uongozi's resource mobilisation.We plan make all information on HIV/AIDS, Disability and environment available at the ICT center so that our target beneficiaries can access it.
All interested individuals note that once you sign up for this project you can support all other Uongozi projects through it.Support in the form of computers, funds and volunteer services is most welcome.

Tree Planting Activity (November 2007 - January 2008)

Location: Kenya | 11/16/07

We currently looking for volunteers to participate in our tree planting activities which started mid this month. Volunteers can come to Kibwezi for a period of one week to two months.We usually work with school going youth to plant trees in various schools every year.Since we purchase the seedlings, we also appeal to those who can donate funds to helps meet our target of 2500 trees this year.Individuals interested in participating in this activity may contact: Eddie Mwanzia(executive Director) at emwanzia@yahoo.com or phone: +254 7228 86165.
