Our Mission: To support environmental education, sustainable development, conservation, and ecotourism around Lake Baikal (Russia), and more specifically, create an infrastructure for serving ecotourists that will also promote economic development at a community level.
What We Do: The Great Baikal Trail Association recruits volunteers from Russia and around the world to build the first system of trails in all of Russia. Already some 350 miles of trail are built, with 1,000 more miles left to complete a trail that one day will lead all the way around Lake Baikal (which is the deepest, oldest, and most bio-diverse lake in the world).
