The Cloud Forest School exists today thanks to the passion and tireless work of volunteers, parents and staff and the generous support of donors.

Our work here is never done. We rely heavily on help from travelling volunteers, interns and donors to help us continue enacting the mission of the CEC.

Volunteer for 3 weeks or more and work with our ecological projects, from reforestation to bio diesel. Volunteers work on our land in conjunction with our land manager Milton. Volunteers help with organic gardening, reforestation, trail maintenance, and environmental education.

Commit for 3 months, or more, as an intern and gain experience in the classroom as a teaching assistant. You will work as a team with your partner teacher and be guided in lesson planning and teaching your own classes, and, in turn will learn about our child-centered education and environmental curriculum.

Donations are always welcome to our ongoing scholarship fund. At the core of the Centro de Educación Creativa/Cloud Forest School is the need to provide the children of the Monteverde zone the necessary skills to negotiate the delicate balance between responsible economic development and environmental protection.

The average family income in Monteverde is around $500 a month. The fees for high school are $180 per month. Thus, we provide 65% of the students at the school with financial aid. However, often more than that amount must receive partial or full scholarships to offset tuition costs. We depend on the support of private donors throughout the United States and Costa Rica to pay the tuition for our lower-income students.

A donation to the SCHOLARSHIP FUND will ensure students have the opportunity to carry on studying with us. In many cases, the unfortunate alternative is to finish school early, ending education entirely at a young age.
