Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Universal Ecology

Environmental degradation through deforestation is linked to rural energy poverty. Energy access is a basic human right. When one you up for example, you switch on electricity. Without electricity life would come to a standstill, nothing would function.

In Kenya and most developing countries, 85% of the population, when they get up in the morning unlike Finland, their energy supply comes directly from trees or biomass. The impacts are obvious. Planting of trees for energy supply takes a long period and needs
great investment to meet the consumption and demand and still maintain the integrity of ecosystems.

Current investments are not adequate and the continued demand for fuel is creating a biomass deficit which can not be addressed under the current community tree planting campaigns.

RESCUE aims to give immediate energy options to communities living on marginal lands through the provision of locally made Wind Turbines and Biogas units. This is a process approach where experienced technicians will train the local artisans on how to build and maintain the units. Schools are strategic partners for demonstration purposes, workshops for skills training, outreach, and community marketing.

Besides mitigating climate change, the project will provide enterprise skills, open new opportunities (computer technology access), and address the critical rural energy poverty.
