Our Mission: With our programs we help children especially, to feel like they are part of a community where they will be able to develop as people. This means improving the quality of
education and care which these children receive. Our priority is to work with children, teenagers, and women from low-income families to empower them and provide them with an increased sense of self-determination.
We aim to help children gain an increased sense of autonomy and of their own responsibility in shaping their lives. We provide children with their own spaces in which they can exert their decision-making capacities and carry out activities planned by them, as a way of ensuring that when they become adults they can participate positively in decision making at all levels, from the family to the workplace and beyond.
It is also of crucial importance to us to provide strong opportunities for volunteers to learn about our culture through their volunteer placements and other cultural activities and exchanges. We aim at providing volunteers with an easy and quick process for connecting with a local family for a home-stay, and with a worthy institution for a volunteer work placement.
What We Do: KUYAY SONQO is run entirely by Peruvians with a strong commitment to bettering our country while at the same time promoting cultural exchange and giving volunteers a chance to get a good sense of life in Peru. We believe in the value of working to serve others, and we are always available to make sure that your experience is a worthwhile and positive one from start to finish.
