Extension of Misyani Small Home

In Kenya East of the Rift Valley region, the little sisters of St. Francis were invited to work in the Catholic Diocese of Machakos Kenya, to assist in their mission of Evangelization. Geographically the Diocese of Machakos covers, two districts, that’s Makueni and Machakos Districts, which is situated in the Southern part of Nairobi the main Kenyan city that is 70 kilometers from the main city Nairobi. The inhabitants of this area mainly Kamba people who are small farmers, they grow maize, beans and bananas. The little sisters were invited by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Machakos in 1984 as witnesses to God’s word and the service to Kamba people.
The people are very poor with a lot of malnourished children which has caused a lot of disability, by then there was no hospital in the area and therefore there was a big number of physically disabled children and as a result the little sisters planned to build a small home for physically disabled children. For now the small home has a number of fifteen(15) children, the number has grown big so there is need to add another dormitory of the same size. For now many of these children are orphans as a result of the death of their parents due to HIV/AIDS in the area. The small home is near a primary school known as St. Francis primary School, for those who pass to high school join nearby high school as a pass or results of an individual.

Misyani small home is next to St. Francis Primary School, next to St. Francis Catholic church, and little sisters of St Francis Misyani convent within Catholic Diocese of Machakos; it’s in Kangundo Division Machakos District – it is approximately 70 kilometers from Nairobi.

As a result of HIV/AIDS death of parents has gone high and a big number of disabled children are left without parents. The current small home is small, shared by both boys and girls, so there is high need of building a second dormitory for boys only which will join with dining and recreation room, due to crowded of small dormitory.

The site where the proposed dormitory will be build is next to St. Francis Primary School near to Misyani Girls Secondary School and Little Sisters of St. Francis we have enough land for the facility.
