Our Mission: It is the mission of the Caribbean Conservation Corporation to ensure the survival of sea turtles within the Wider Caribbean basin and Atlantic through research, education, training, advocacy and the protection of the natural habitats upon which they depend.
What We Do: Caribbean Conservation Corporation (CCC) is the oldest organization dedicated to the study and protection of marine turtles and their environments. CCC concentrates its conservation activities in areas containing globally significant sea turtle populations and habitats. CCC’s geographic focus includes all of the Wider Caribbean, including the southeastern U.S. because of the region’s unique importance to the world’s remaining sea turtle populations. CCC’s Sea Turtle Survival League Program focuses on US sea turtle conservation issues with an emphasis on Florida, where 90% of US sea turtle nesting occurs. CCC’s international programs include the longest running sea turtle research and conservation program in the world, conducted at CCC’s John H. Phipps Biological Field Station in Tortuguero, Costa Rica. Ongoing analysis of sea turtle nesting trends at Tortuguero has documented 400% increase is in number of nests laid on the beach each year since 1970.
