Our Mission: * To challenge obsolete conceptions of energy, by putting the issues of climate change, fossil fuel use, and peak oil into a context relevant to the life of every American;
* To raise awareness of sustainable technology and energy conservation, and further, to facilitate discussions concerning local implementation;
* To galvanize popular support for renewable energy into democratic action;
* To engender an alternative way of living, one that values community, compassion and exploration over individual material gain;
* To explore America, on a journey that delves into the mainstream and the often-overlooked cultures, and to examine the historical landmarks, the events that shape America today, and the evolution of American society;
* To create partnerships with local and national groups dedicated to promoting sustainability;
* To document our journey on video, in photographs and in the BioTour Vagabond Journal, bringing excitement to the sustainable energy movement with our story of adventure.
What We Do: BioTour visits colleges, high schools and community events demonstrating a tangible example of renewable energy technology while educating and facilitating discussion about sustainability and which policies and practices are required for society’s shift away from fossil fuels. BioTour is also a cultural exploration America, a vast land of economic, social and cultural diversity.
