Ah, those lucky souls out in the playa. I'll be here in Seattle meanwhile finishing up a kitchen remodel, putting polyurethane down on a floor, and trimming out the entryway with some new casing, yeah!
I'll be researching and updating a travel guide in Guadalajara, Mexico... and checking in on the Matador Network blogs to see if friends here are sending in blog or photo dispatches from Burning Man. The photo piece that Robyn Johnson published about 13 coolest art installations in the history of Burning Man (http://matadornights.com/12-coolest-art-installations-in-the-history-of-burning-man/) has me eager to see what photos come out of this year's event!
I'm discovering if I can ever live anywhere full time while I reorient myself to American culture in Austin, Texas. Also working on getting my new website, www.onceatraveler.com, up and running... I'm so lazy now that I have Mexican food at my disposal... curse you chicken fajitas.
My non-Burning Man week is up in the air - way, way up. I'm in New Orleans, and with all Greyhound/Amtrak departures canceled and all flights full, I've got no way to get out on my own. I'm staring down the barrel of a mandatory evacuation later this weekend - destination unknown.

Hey everyone!!
So we've all heard the heard some amazing stories, seen the crazy photos, maybe even been so lucky as to venture off to the infamous Black Rock Desert in Nevada. But, for those of you working class heroes who can't get away to Burning Man this year, or international travelers who couldn't fit it in, we at Matador want to know what YOU are doing!
Let us know with a post and photo!!
