My friend and I are flying into Lima at the end of June. I've read on various travel sites that renting a car, especially out of Lima, isn't the smartest idea. But, flights from Lima to Cusco are around $350 a piece, which would more than cover our car rental for the two weeks we'll be there.
I guess my main concern is; what should we worry about booking in advance?
The train to Machu Picchu?
Flights from Lima to Cusco?
Rooms?
I feel like I want to see more than just Lima and Cusco. Therefore, was hoping car rental was an option. I like the idea of spontaneity and not having too much of the trip set in stone before we go.
