Hey all,

My dad's got a conference in Santiago, Chile, in May, and is hoping to take some extra time off and visit Buenos Aires as well. He's flying Air Canada in and out but is clueless about regional airlines or the best options for flying Santiago-BA. Anyone have any thoughts on where he should start? Reputable local carriers? Budget options? He's trying to get a sense of how much the extra leg will cost him.

Thanks!

hey, off the top of my head, the only advice is to avoid Argentina's national airline, Aerolineas Argentinas. They charge double for North Americans (actually, maybe just Americans - no sure about Canucks) - but even if your dad could get the real fare the process of booking is brutal. LAN flies Santiago to BA I believe - if there's a flight that gets into Jorge Newberry airport it would be preferable to anything arriving at EZE.

Hope that's semi-helpful -

tim

Just Lan and Aerlineas fly this route I believe.

Lan has an airpass (minimum three coupons), but it might be cheaper for you to by an extra flight and not use that leg... check it out...

If your dad is flying from Europe, he can book an "all America Airpass" - probably be cheapest....
