Thanks for this post. I've never heard of the site, but look forward to learning more about it.
My husband is a private chef and we often had meals in our home in Old San Juan. It was an amazing experience, for guests and for us. Guests got to see the inside of a beautiful apartment building built in the 1800s, and got a taste of how people live in the Caribbean (no glass windows, for example). We often talked about history and local culture, and the four hour meal would often stretch on for six or even eight hours as we talked and talked. We met people from all over the world and it was an experience that was equally rewarding. Eating together is definitely one of the best ways to learn about culture and to experience local living.

I love this idea! They pair local people all over the world with travelers. The traveler arrives at the local host's home for a dinner get-together. The traveler experiences a home cooked meal of local cuisine and a taste of local culture. The host enjoys a fun-filled night getting to know people from around the globe! http://www.dinewithlocals.com
