Hello fellow travel experts... I am seeking advice on where to move this winter (June, July, August). Currently I am in BsAS but I am thinking that possibly Mendoza or Bariloche may be a good winter destination for the ski resorts. Any advice you could give me in regards to access to the ski mountains, renting rooms, and working at the resorts would be very helpful. I am open to any suggestions you may have on the topic.

Cheers and thanks for your help,

Tony

Hey there. Bariloche is probably the best, but snow in Argentina is tricky, specially there. If there is a decent amount of snow, Bariloche hands down. Las leñas has more snow (higher altitude) most of the seasons, but there is no "city". You gotta live at the resort (couple of hotels, restaurants, etc). That can complicate things. Then you've got Chapelco, in San Martin de los Andes.
"City wise", Bariloche, during those months, is by far the best.

Tony,

beyond the obvious choices of San Martin de Los Andes (Chapelco), Bariloche (Cerro Catedral), and Mendoza (Las Lenas), a hidden jewel is the ski area of La Hoya, just outside of the city of Esquel. It's an interesting town in its own right, and only 600 km to the Atlantic coast, via the best highway in Patagonia.

My advice is to visit various places and see what works best for you. San Martin is a more intimate town than any of the other places; Bariloche has the most options; La Hoya, like the name says, is a hidden jewel.

Tony, what David didn't mention is that Mendoza has women who will eat you alive. If that's a consideration. Beware la mendocinas.

This guy lives in Bariloche for the skiing - would be a good contact:

Guess this question has already been thoroughly answered but I'll chime in to say that one of the best powder days of my entire life was in Las Lenas. However, Kaunassian is right on the money--no city, just the resort and it's a good five hour bus ride from Mendoza.

I'll also reaffirm Medocina women as possible the hottest in the world. Mendoza is great for a multitude of reasons...skiing prob isn't one of them.
