Hey Matadorians!

I'll be road-tripping around the South all through March, and I just wanted to put the word out there in case anyone is looking for a rideshare. My plans are still in flux but I should have a somewhat firm itinerary before I land in Atlanta on February 29. I'll be hanging around Georgia and the Carolinas for the first week or so (Augusta, Columbia, Charlotte NC and Charleston) and then heading up to Memphis, and down the Mississippi to the Gulf Coast. I might get as far west as Houston, and as far south as Tampa, before I swing back to Atlanta.

I'll post again in a month or so with details, but I thought I'd put out a general advisory - anyone who needs a ride that fits roughly within my route, or who'd like to come along for a weekend for a few days or whatever, is more than welcome. Bonus points if you know your way around the local radio offerings or have an iPod tuner. And of course I'd love some help with gas money!

I'll be staying off the interstate as much as possible. Detours to random roadside attractions are encouraged. I'll be mixing it up between motels, camping and couchsurfing, and trying not to drive for more than a couple of hours each day, aside from one or two long stretches.

Sound like fun? Let me know! I'd love some company.

Yo--sounds like a fun trip. Definitely wanted to mention while you're down there--it's worth steering your route through Athens, GA. The Classic City. You also might want to check in with Brenda (http://matadortravel.com/travel-community/hawaiibren)for potential road-trip rendezvous. I know she's planning a blowout road trip coming up soon.

Be sure to check out the Buddy Holly statue and walk of fame in Lubbock, Texas. I once drove 7 hours out of the way with 6 college friends to see it. Well worth the drive, and I'm not even a Buddy Holly fan.

The statue and walk of fame is between the La Quinta Inn and the Holiday Inn.
