The best thing I've found (well, was introduced to) is Advil liqui-gel caps - the "blue pills". Take two before you go to bed and call me in the morning...
Oh yeah. And a big mac combo usually helps the next day too. (in my old age I rarely find myself in this predicament anymore)
Cheers!
I'm a big fan of herbal tea (peppermint is ideal, calms the tummy) in copious amounts, soaked up by large quantities of crackers. If I'm going to attempt the greasy-breakfast-as-cure, I prefer to try it right after I leave the bar, or later in the day - post-noon, or better yet post-2. Can't look at eggs any sooner than that when it's bad.
Bad TV and/or DVDs help, too...
The only surefire hangover cure I know is time.
What's the worst hangover you've ever had? Mine was in Mondulkiri, Cambodia, after way too much Mekong Whiskey. I was with my Japanese girlfriend of the time and she thought I was going to die.
Time shmime Tim...give me the drugs!
Thankfully, the "I'm gonna die" and "I'm never going to drink again" hangovers are (hopefully) behind me. My last one was my stag (buck's, bachelor's) night in 2007...I pulled a magical disappearing act from the bar and somehow made it home.
And Eva, yes, the greasy food bit is definitely better BEFORE you sleep! I was always thankful for the 99 cent pizza slice and 24 hour Denny's near my old place. Nothing like a Grand Slam brekky at 3 AM

Oh God. Rookie bartender initiation in first year of college, at an all-you-can-drink (and I do mean ALL) campus pub staff party. Highlights included being forced to chug SoCo and Jose Cuervo from the bottles (simultaneously) while crab-walking through an obstacle course. It wasn't pretty, and the next day wasn't, either. (It's a little terrifying realizing you're throwing up blood. Apologies for TMI.)
wake up and smoke a big joint. problem solved.
^this, but hopefully you have a bong so pack a few to the rim and you're either cured or you fell back to sleep. CAUTION-THIS ANTIDOTE IS NOT FOR ALL PEOPLE, CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR IF ITS RIGHT FOR YOU!
Worst Hangover... Luckily, I've never been a morning after puker..
There's the time after my 5-year college reunion when I was violently hungover and had to sit on the same Southwest flight for 13 hours, which stopped in 4 cities and I ate approximately 15 bags of peanuts because that is the only food I could get my hands on (they wouldn't allow me off the plane)... http://matadortravel.com/travel-blog/united-states/stu/email-written-after-an-especially-drunk-weekend-and-brutal-cross-count
I've woken up in some precarious places too.
to be honest, hangovers get so much worse with age, so each successive one I have is the worst one ever.
Best hangover day: New years day this year. Couldn't move, so I watched the first season of Californication, which is infinitely watchable. And everyone on here is a writer or sexoholic of some degree, so they can relate.
My stratergy is to drink so much that i sleep for about 24 hours and by that time its too late to get a hangover.
Its not planneed but it works :D
I'm a little late on this topic, but I totally sympathize on the vodka front. Never, never again. I drank a whole bottle of vodka (well, ok, to be fair I split it with my boyfriend at the time) in Naples, on New Year's, and knocked out my two front teeth by falling face first onto the main plaza. Nope, not kidding. At midnight I was sitting on a hospital bed with cotton shoved into my gums while Italian doctors busted out champagne and toasted. I spent the 17-hour drive back to Aix-en-Provence the next day vomiting every half hour, and when we stopped at service stations it only got worse....in Italy they love their dried hanging sausages in the gas station stores...oh god, can't even think about it. That is the only time I have ever vomited from drinking, and the last time I will ever, ever drink vodka in my life. Even smelling it brings back memories of those sausages, those bathrooms, that drive...and my fake tooth.
I thought vodka is odorless? You're lucky its not something more pungent like tequila, which, after living in Mexico for 6 months partying, I cannot drink or smell. The thought of it makes me gag.
Although tough luck on the front teeth!! man, that's harsh. How many times have you heard "all i want for Christmas is my two front teeth..." from friends/family?
Perhaps remotely expensive vodka is odorless, but the stuff you buy from the corner store for 4 bucks? Yep, not so much. Actually, tequila has never done me any harm (fate is laughing somewhere in the distance right now...) but mezcal has had it's way with me. One time I had the brilliant idea of putting a shot of flavored mezcal (they have all sorts of different flavored mezcales in Oaxaca) in each beer, only to wake up the next morning feeling like I'd been hit by a train. I remember groaning "Alka-Selzer, Alka Selzer..." and then sleeping 'til 4. Ever since then I've given the mezcal its due respect.
I would have to say just keep drinking...you can't feel hungover if you're still drunk haha Ceasars are the best hangover-over!
Okay Okay i realize that that cannot be the cure ALL the time so just marinating in your bed with a stack of movies and a pizza ;)
+1 for the advil. works surprisingly well!
I'll spare you all my hangover stories. haha.. Glad those days minus the very occasional get drunk to remember why you don't drink so much anymore binges, are over. :)
Before you go out for the night, or whatever, stash a liter jug of water by your bed and a few slices of bread or crackers and a piece of fruit (like a banana).
On the infamous morning, there is nothing better than a couple of citrus flavored alka-seltzer.....and a long shower. If you can tolerate it, the colder the better.
Crackers, cheese, and milk. I know the milk is weird but my body craves it after a night of excessive alcohol. Ginger ale also helps due to the carbonation and nausea-calming ginger. A nice dose of motrin doesn't hurt either.
I don't have too many hangovers to tell about, I try to avoid those as much as possible!
If I'm planning a big one generally its lots of water the day before and then something greasy the day after. nice feed of steak and eggs mmm
My top three hangover cures..
Caesars - you know that drink with vodka and clamato juice, might be kinda hard to find unless you are in Canada though
Pho - Vietnamese beef noodle soup, not just for hangovers its pretty much my go-to cure for everything
Smoke a joint!

What are your best cures for a hangover??
I'm in NYC, and I'm nearly certain I drank the lower east side dry of low to mid-level vodka last night.
My typical routine:
Drink way too much water.
1 diet coke,
at least 1 DVR'd tv show.
and lots of self-pity.
I also like to discuss my predicament with other hungover people.
Ok, off to get a diet coke. Please drop a line with your hangover fighting remedies!
